WHEEL TRUING MELBOURNE

IMG_0470.jpeg

WHAT IS WHEEL TRUING?

Wheel truing is the process of adjusting the spoke tension in a motorbike wheel to ensure the rim spins straight and evenly without wobbling side-to-side (lateral movement) or up-and-down (radial movement). It's a critical part of wheel building and maintenance that directly affects the performance, handling, and safety of a motorcycle.

After a wheel is laced—when the spokes are installed connecting the hub to the rim—it’s rarely perfectly straight. Truing corrects this by using a truing stand to rotate the wheel and identify any high spots, low spots, or side-to-side deviations. A spoke wrench is then used to tighten or loosen specific spokes to bring the rim into perfect alignment.
